Title

One day I read a quote on parenting that said, "The days are long but the years are short." It was a good reminder how so many people tell you how 'they [kids] grow up so fast.' Well, even though I feel like I am in the mix of things right now with a four year old, three year old, 15 month old and one on the way in three months - I have to believe that the years will really be short in comparison to the long days I am experiencing right now.

When discussing this with a good friend and all the 'not so great' stages children go through she told me about a speaker who once said that the scriptures are filled with passages that begin with "and it came to pass". They never say, "and it came to stay". This had such an impact on me - she's right - Hadley did grow out of having to have someone lie with her to fall asleep, she weaned herself from the bottle, she potty trained, Vincent stopped tripping and hitting his head, having Mommy anxiety (I had no private showers for a long time), and all three kids can take a bath together sitting up. Someday they will be able to feed themselves, dress themselves, read to themselves, naps won't be essential to our family schedule. The stages of kids 'come to pass'. I hope I can document these stages and experiences so as to try and extend the years of memories.
